In addition, ask your tax professional about the 35% state tax credit, up to $2,250, for systems installed after July 31, 2006. There is also a 30% federal tax credit, up to $2,000, for systems installed in 2006 through 2008. High Efficiency Electric Water Heating If solar hot water isn't right for you, consider a high efficiency electric water heater. They'll save you money, and MECO provides a rebate of up to $80 on qualifying models. Heat Pump Water Heating You may also consider a heat pump water heater.
